#6 Feature Idea - Verticaly sorted articles
Closed: Duplicate 2 years ago by glb. Opened 8 years ago by frantisekz.

I have implemented switching to vertical mode (one article per line) on http://mojefedora.cz as lot of our users requested it when we deployed new theme.

I thought this feature might be useful even for Fedoramagazine readers. Switching is done with jQuery and cookies. In first release switching worked without page refresh (modifying css through jQuery.css) but switching from vertical to horizontal view haven't worked reliably. So when user clicks on switcher it creates a cookie and reloads entire page (with or without additional css).

If you think this feature will be useful for fmag readers, I can provide source code and patches to implement this feature.

@frantisekz Sorry for the late comment back on this issue… I'm watching this repo now so I should see any further comments.

For me personally, I prefer the style we have now to have multiple articles appear in a row. To me, this helps prevent recent content from being buried by new content (like on the Community Blog). For me, I prefer to have the style that we have now on the Magazine over a more linear organization of articles. But I'm open to knowing others' thoughts on this.

The URL https://start.fedoraproject.org/ already displays the articles in a vertical layout. Admittedly, it isn't as nice as your custom theme. Unfortunately, I don't have the skill or time to maintain multiple highly-customized themes. I'm going to close out this ticket because it is getting quite old and I don't expect that anyone will be interested in doing this anytime soon. Thanks for the suggestion though!
