#199 fedora-websites: Plan for Atomic prerelease images
Closed: Fixed 7 years ago Opened 7 years ago by robyduck.

With F25 Atomic replaced definitely Cloud as Fedora edition, and is now the only "cloud" set on getfedora.org.

Until F25 there was never any plan to produce prerelease images (Alpha/Beta), but now, as it is an edition, websites need to know if cloud-wg wants to change that and produce 2-week prerelease images. Alpha freeze is at the end of February and Alpha will be released at 2017-03-14.

The earlier we know your plan the better, because actually we do not have any line coded for a new prerelease page.

I think that we should start producing prelease images immediately at the branch (later this month — 2017-02-21) as part of the two-week process. I don't think there should be specific Alpha/Beta builds.

ah yes, but then the question probably is:
Do you want to have a prerelease page anyway? Or should prerelease images just be available on the actual Atomic page?
In the latter case we would need to know when you switch to the next release, because we have a release version in titles and text, but need also to tell our scripts it should look out for the next releasever.

I think it makes sense to have that on a prerelease page, but I'll let others weigh in too.

i would say we have a pre-release page and then switch the website over on "F26 big release" day

The pre-release page for f26 atomic could just get updated once a day to list the latest nightly image that was built. WDYT?

It doesn't make any difference if you want to update the images hourly or daily. It's probably easier for us to put them into the same script and get them all (stable and prerelease).
I'm fine with a prerelease page and a final Fedora release page, the same system we use for workstation and server.
So, if you all agree with that, I'll start putting together some ideas (and hands) in websites-land to have it running soon.

sounds good to me. Others will chime in from the mailing list if they care.

I created a website ticket to start working on that:
