#168 Put OpenShift Origin in Container with Fedora Base
Closed None Opened 7 years ago by scollier.

AIUI right now if you deploy OpenShift Origin on a Fedora Atomic host, it pulls down Origin running in CentOS based images. Perhaps we should port those images to Fedora.

The images that the CentOS team are created are located here:

https://wiki.centos.org/ContainerPipeline

We would want to coordinate the effort with the images on Docker hub:

https://hub.docker.com/u/openshift/

And figure how this fits into Fedoras build system.

This appears to be in alignment with [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Objectives/ProjectFAO Project FAO] which got universal buy in from Cloud WG members back at the [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Cloud_WG_2016 Cloud 2016 FAD]. There's also some [http://etherpad.osuosl.org/fao_installation_notes notes from work done] towards this but still plenty more needing to be done.

What's the goal/desire of this ticket?

There's def some alignment here. One place we diverge are running origin in docker images as opposed to system containers - which could be a nice short term deliverable but might distract from the larger goal. Are there tickets open for the FAO work that needs to be done? Happy to close this and consolidate on that.

The goal is for us to run Origin on Fedora Atomic for the FOSP project:

Right now we are using Origin packages on Fedora 24.

CLosing this in favor of the work Adam is doing on the FAO project.
