= Triaged ticket =

Ticket is triaged! This is for an upcoming event from September 17 - 18, so it would be helpful for planning if we could have this badge at least a week ahead of the event (maybe aiming for completion by Sept. 10?).

I'm CCing some members of the Design Team onto this ticket to see if any of them would be able to handle this one. A simple concept idea could be the SVG logo linked above with a "''2016''" or "'16" added in somewhere.

Here's a draft of what I worked on yesterday... tried to keep with the colors and textures used on the HACKMIT website

Looks good to me. But 2016 looks out of place. Can we make the 2016 a smaller and decrease the font?

I love the design on this!! Nice work, maryshak1996. :) I also agree with sayan that the 2016 looks slightly out of place - I think a minor size reduction / skinnier font would be a good idea too.

Hiya! I'd like to see a version of this badge with the logo on a grey background like the other event badges

My thinking was to try a grey background that mimics the background from the HACKMIT logo used in https://hackmit.org/assets/images/hack-logo-fb.png . To make it a bit more clear though, here's a version with the grey overlay bumped up a little bit and tweaked the "2016" in the corner a bit too.

Here's another idea for consideration too, to keep this conversation going!

Hey Mary! I think #2 is so close! I just think the font weight is too slight there - so a bit of an overcorrection! Can you bolden the font just a bit so it's readable? (note that the badges are typically viewed at 50% size, so zoom out and make sure it's readable at that size too. At 100% here it's hard to read the 2016 but I'm guessing it won't be made out at 50%.

@mimzo, ya I thought it was too slight and a little hard to read too, but wanted to post the progress! I'll make it a little bolder and re-post soon!

The latest version of the badge looks good to me.

It looks great to me too – could any members of the Design Team take a look here? The event is this upcoming weekend so it would be great if we could push the badge out by Wednesday. :)

Hi,

you should go without the filter on hack fonts, its clear recognizable trough the shapes already no need to go with their style more, ours is there on this place more important. For the year number go with our comfortaa

@mizmo, which design did you mean? The second one maryshak posted or the file attempt.2? I personally prefer the design with the grey background as it fits our style guide more than the other design.

Maryshak, for that design can you bump up the weight on the year and make it comfortaa? I'd like to see a version without the rays in the background as well. Thanks :)

I like the letters w/o the stone effect and the multi-colored center, but all of them look like they could be used.

I was a little bit confused as to which designs some of you were referring to in your feedback, but I made a version without the crumpled paper pattern for the HACKMIT logo and did just a solid grey background, kept the 4-quadrant concept of the last few and then bumped up the "2016"'s weight as well as changed the font to comfortaa(although, I had heard that in time we are trying to do away with comfortaa being the default and switch instead to open sans...) not quite sure if this is what you guys were referring to, but it might be easier to reference this one since there are multiple iterations

Just pinged in IRC, but wanted to follow up in here as well - we will be traveling tomorrow afternoon, and we need to create posters / QR codes tonight. It would be great if a design team member could give one final look here!

hey, just made some very slight adjustments here Mary in the interest of time - I made the hack letters white, brought back the texture but very slight, and spaced out the letters to give the A some breathing space, thickened them up to read well at 50%. Hope these changes are ok with ya.
