I have discussed about same with libabigail maintainer and we agreed on using $HOME/.cache/libabigail/ path as default directory for extracting rpm packages instead of /tmp/. It solves our problem of extracted packages not consuming main memory. Commit is available in master branch https://sourceware.org/git/gitweb.cgi?p=libabigail.git;a=commit;h=c95cdd611affb79ae5068acea2b372c1ee8a6900 . We will have this feature included in next release.

Let me know if there is any additional concern.

This issue should be fixed by updating libabigail to libabigail-1.0-0.8.rc5.3.
