#7173 Orphan all of jcapik's packages
Closed: Fixed 6 years ago Opened 6 years ago by bowlofeggs.

FESCo has voted to orphan all of @jcapik's packages:

https://pagure.io/fesco/issue/1786

Note to whoever does this ticket:

We should note all the packages that get orphaned and post the list to the devel list asking for any interested folks to take over packages they wish from the list.

Additionally, we should keep this ticket open for a while and request that people who do want to take over packages add their requests here so we can coordinate and process them in one place instead of is 100 tickets with multiple people asking for the same packages. After no additional requests are posted here for a while we can close this ticket and ask people to file new ones for any additional package takeovers.

@till Can we use https://pagure.io/releng/blob/master/f/scripts/distgit/orphan-all-packages.py? The reason why I have this question is because, if there are other committers for a package, the first one of those committers will be the new owner. Is this what we want or should we orphan them all?

AFAIU the current plan is to first just announce that the packages are available and only act after packagers had time to request the new packages. The script would be the right tool to process the remaining packages. I guess assigning the package to some maintainer should be good enough. In a different case a few weeks ago the other maintainers where also unresponsive, so it depends... :-)

I'm interested in maintaining lm_sensors, minicom and pure-ftpd. Thanks!

@kevin @till Sorry, it seems your ideas are conflicting to each other. Is it, first we orphan them and announce the orphaned list or announce first and give the packages to whoever wants to maintain them and then orphan the remaining?

@mohanboddu It doesn't matter to me too much the order there, we can do things the oder that @till suggests, thats fine with me. I just wanted to try and have people coordinate in one ticket instead of a bunch of tickets that might have requests for the same packages in them.

I'd like to take over giflib since I'm preparing a Change to update it to 5.x for F28+.

Ping? This is taking ages.

I am mailing the rest of the orphan list to the devel list (along with some others).

Done. Giving rpms/pulseaudio-equalizer to spstarr

I can take sipcalc. I use this frequently enough.

Hello, I use this icon theme and I can take care of this package:

rpms/faience-icon-theme

Giving rpms/sipcalc to error
Giving rpms/faience-icon-theme to williamjmorenor

Hi. I've used "SDL_gfx" for some of my projects; I see it's already been given to user "limb", but could I possibly become a co-maintainer?

I'd have a similar request for "freedoom" and "freedoom-freedm", as I have some personal interest in these packages.

Giving rpms/gpm to zbyszek
Giving rpms/hddtemp to rathann

I'd like to take cdm, which is still orphaned.
