#3903 change component owner in bugzilla for some perl packages
Closed: Fixed None Opened 13 years ago by mmaslano.

Could you create perl-fedora-maint as bug owner for all my perl-* modules and perl component? I'm sharing bugs with my colleagues in RHEL and we'd like to have it also for Fedora. I suppose set up mailing list is also needed.

This should be applied only for perl modules, where I am an owner of the package. Not only co-maintainer.

The group perl-fedora-maint should include mmaslano, ppisar, psabata.

Adding toshio to the CC, he's be much involved here.

Toshio, is this something you do?

Okay here's the steps:

  • I need to have an email address for the pseudo user. Sounds like you want a mailing list for that purpose. If you need one created on fedoraproject.org, probably best to open an infrastructure ticket to get that created: https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure

  • After that, a bugzilla account needs to be created for the email address.

  • Then I can add a pseudo user for that email address in fas.

  • Then I can make mmaslano a comaint for all of the packages that you presently own.

  • Then I can make the perl-fedora-maint pseudo user the owner of those packages in the pkgdb.

Mailing list: perl-maint@lists.fedoraproject.org

How will be packages orphaned or killed when pseudo user is the maintainer?

  • Then I can make the perl-fedora-maint pseudo user the owner of those packages in the pkgdb.

I believe that any comaintainer (holds approveacls) can change the ownership but I haven't looked at that code in a while. If not you can use a cvsadmin request to orphan or retire a package in the pkgdb. rel-eng will also play a part in retiring a package no matter what.

Could you also set as commaintainers psabata and ppisar?

ping, was this work done?

No. FESCo's new policy to alert all the comaintainers when making changes means that I need to write some SQL queries to do this (unless I'm willing to spam maintainers multiple times for the changes... but the last time I did it, maintainers asked for less email). I've got part of that work done but not all of it yet.

Is there any updated status here? ;)

If someone wanted to support it, then I'd like to change my request to:
The group perl-fedora-maint should include jplesnik, ppisar, psabata.

Afaik, pkgdb2 now supports groups. Nevertheless, I cannot identify a rel-eng task here. If there is a feature missing in pkgdb2, please report it at https://github.com/fedora-infra/pkgdb2/issues/new or https://fedorahosted.org/fedora-infrastructure
