#180 Funding request for Fabian Affolter for CLT 2020
Closed: Insufficient data 3 years ago by hhlp. Opened 4 years ago by fab.

I would like to request funding for my travel and accommodation expenses for Chemnitzer Linux Tage 2020.

Travel: As usual we (@robert and me) will share a car from Stuttgart to Chemnitz and back. Berne to Stuttgart and back will cost around Euro 100 for the train ticket.

Accommodation: The Dorint Hotel (former Mercure Hotel) will be around Euro 100 (or a little less) per night. I will book my room as soon as we have confirmation about the booth. Also, I will share a room if possible.

Total: Euro 100 + 200 = 300

Sorry for the delay.
This is +1 from my side. :)

Interesting event, well organized and complete +1 for me

Regards.,

hi @fab - this has been approved, looking forward to your event report. Please open a ticket on fedora-budget for reimbursement.
Thanks!

Today in the afternoon, the organizers of Chemnitzer Linux-Tage cancelled the event, see their official press release at https://chemnitzer.linux-tage.de/2020/en/presse/mitteilungen/absage for details. I already was in touch with them before and they were confident that the event could still take place due to their massive precautions. So, there won't be an event report for now (it is unclear if the event is just moved or really skipped) – are you accepting this as event report? ;-)

The other issue might be that the accommodation can't be cancelled anymore without still paying for it…maybe @fab shares the actual situation here?

I booked the cheapest room and this room category does not allow to cancel for free. In the meantime I cancelled it anyways. The WHO declared CONVID-19 a pandemic. I hope that the hotel is accommodating and not charging me.

Can tell more after the weekend.

Hi @robert @fab acknowledged. Please send an update on the hotel charges when you have it. Thanks!

The hotel charged the full amount. They are arguing that at this point in time there was no official statement from the government present to cancel events, only a recommendation.

hi @fab that is unfortunate, but not unsurprising. We will cover the charge, please open an issue on fedora-budget with your information so we can complete a reimbursement. Make sure to attach your receipts. Thanks!

We discussed the open tickets tagged needs event report during our Mindshare Committee Meeting in Nov. 4 2020. Based on the extraordinary circumstances of this year, and the length of time since the event took place, we are closing this ticket. Please consider writing a report for the event still, we would welcome it, and make sure to prioritize reporting for future events. Thanks!

The event was cancelled.

@hhlp, I'm not sure how a event report should work here, given the event was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemia, like explained earlier (including the official statement by the event organizers).

That was a template cancel message. Ignore the report request.
