#807 Recommend graphical system upgrade
Closed: Fixed Opened by mclasen.

The banner text on https://getfedora.org/en/workstation/download/ says "Install via DNF" if you are already on Fedora.

For the workstation, we would prefer if the was pointing to a page explaining graphical system upgrades as supported in GNOME Software, instead of the commandline method.

I also think it would be clearer if the link text said "upgrade" instead of "install".

There is some related, i think, conversation around the same area in https://pagure.io/fedora-websites/issue/802.

If there is something that has a more in-depth description on how to do it, i think it could be valuable.

If you'd want to try and put a PR together with ideas, we'll be glad to review and provide feedback too.

That does not really address what I filed this issue for.

The main point was to recommend the graphical method (GNOME software) over dnf.

install vs upgrade was just a minor issue

The link should be https://docs.fedoraproject.org/quick-docs/en-US/upgrading.html

(Right now, only en-US exists, but hopefully that'll be expanded soon.)

How about

Upgrade instructions for systems already running Fedora Workstation.

as the text?

Or, if we can go more wordy, something like:

You only need to download something here to do a fresh installation. To upgrade, follow these instructions.

or

A download is only needed for new installs. To upgrade, follow these instructions.

Either of those sound good to me

A download is only needed for new installs. To upgrade, follow these instructions.

I think this one fixes the issue without being long-winded.
@robyduck if this is the one we should implement I would be happy do submit PR today.

Yeah please do, the one you chose is fine.

PR#832 opened for this

Merged, I hope it is fixed now. Live in about 60 minutes from now.
