#653 Standard Abbreviated Footer
Opened 7 years ago by bex. Modified 7 years ago

I am not sure where to open this ticket, so I am starting here.

I believe we should develop a standard abbreviated footer, similar to the one on getfedora.org that contains key links for properties we want people to be directed to.

Right now we have a lot of work that has been done and is being done to make our websites feel more unified in design. However, I don't see us creating linkages between them.

I was talking with @ryanlerch and he correctly pointed out that all of the links on getfedora.org aren't relevant for all of our websites, however I believe we should have some key landing pages that we drive people to in footers.

I believe these links fall into two categories:

  1. Those needed often by contributors
  2. Those useful to newcomers

My initial list would be:
getfedora.org
the Fedora Wiki
The team that owns the site's page
admin.fp.o

WDYT?

You first need to split websites from web applications. Web applications are mainly for Fedora contributors, while websites have different targets, but are mostly for end users.
So, for the websites, @ryanlerch is right, but what we have now is the result of many many requests we received for why we don't point to this or why we don't point to that. The websites team, together with Marketing, decided to focus on the main websites and informations we think are important for end users, and we are actually linking well between websites (not between websites and webapps).

That said, we have all the websites you proposed, but we want to point also to the other categories, about where to go to download Fedora images, where people can get assistance and how to join the Fedora Project.

Now that we have mostly solved the end-users, shouldn't we start working on contributors?
