#649 Fedora Atomic page should make "launch in public cloud" more obvious
Closed: Fixed 7 years ago Opened 7 years ago by mattdm.

Right now, the EC2 launch buttons are kind of hidden behind the download button on https://getfedora.org/en/atomic/.

One approach would be to change that to "Download or Launch". Another might be to have multiple buttons: "Download" / "Launch in Public Cloud", or even three choices: "Launch in Public Cloud" / "Download to Install" / "Download for Private Cloud"

What do you think? cc @dustymabe

i'm cool with it, could use a volunteer to work on it though.

And where would you put all the description? I feel this would become too specific for cloud people only, and not for end users. Remember getfedora.org is at first a brochure page of our editions, targeted to end users, even for those who never tried a cloud image.

My concern is that people will think that they have to download it, when in fact they can just launch it in a provider and go — no download required. It's really hard to see that from the page as it stands.

Hmmm, people will click on it and then see the launch button in the modal.
What about the solution we have for https://cloud.fedoraproject.org ?

I'm afraid they won't click on it at all, because it says "download", and that's not what they want to do.

Hu? It says "click to launch" here, or?

https://getfedora.org/en/atomic/ doesn't say "launch" anywhere — just "download". Am I missing something? I might be. :)

Oh you meant in the main atomic page, not in the download page. I would avoid to put 2 or 3 buttons over there. Maybe "Download or Launch" is the best.
I was thinking about the download page, where we say "Standard HVM AMIs" for example. On https://cloud.fedoraproject.org/ we did another approach; did you look at that?

+1 for Download or Launch. If we weren't afraid of a few more words we could have Download Now or Launch In Public Cloud

I changed it right now, but it will be live not before 70-80 minutes from now. Please tell me if it is good now before I push the string out to zanata.
Thanks.

Beautiful. Thank you very much, @robyduck
