#57 Cloud->Atomic Changes for After Fedora 25 release
Closed: Fixed 7 years ago Opened 7 years ago by dustymabe.

mattdm and I had a conversation with @robyduck today. As part of the conversation we agreed on changes that could happen after the Fedora 25 release. Here is a summary of those changes:

  1. create a new cloud.fp.o page for our cloud base image offerings (similar to arm.fp.o)
  2. Keeping the same content as what is currently offered on Fedora 24's cloud page would be nice (including the "launch in ec2" functionality, etc).
  3. Redirect https://getfedora.org/cloud/ to https://cloud.fedoraproject.org
  4. docker information should be on cloud.fp.o page
  5. would not be bad to have docker information on atomic page as well
  6. Add hyperlink to Atomic download page from cloud.fp.o (a pointer to atomic if someone was looking for atomic there)
  7. Add hyperlink to cloud.fp.o from Atomic download page (a pointer to cloud if someone was looking for cloud base)

I would suggest this live as a subpage of alt.fpo and that cloud.fpo could redirect to alt.fpo/cloud. Arm.fpo prefates alt.fpo and we may do a similar scheme for it.

Sounds good to me.

Cool, then let's go for that.

Note: Prior to the 25 release, I was shown a mockup of a new version of alt.fp.io which had all of our downloads of any kind in a big searchable grid. What happened to that? Is it still planned?

We never did a mockup of it, not sure what you are referring to. The plan is to make something like https://arm.fedoraproject.org, but we are not planning a searchable grid.

Cloud Base images are now in production. Please check them out at https://alt.fedoraproject.org/cloud and try also https://cloud.fedoraproject.org

I leave this ticket open for any further issues with the page, or additional requests.

Beautiful! Thanks so much. Do you think it's ready for an announcement or do you want to do a more "soft launch"?

Also, do you want further things like adding Dply and Digital Ocean on this ticket, or in a new one?

An announcement would be fine IMHO, some people were looking for Base images, and they could read the announcement now.

Yes, for these things it is better to have another ticket. Just if you have corrections or some tweaks to do add them here. I didn't anything with docker, and the description of Base images in the index (alt.fp.o) probably needs a change. Alos, the link from getfedora.org/atomic/downoad to Cloud Base images is not there because the last build failed. With a bit of luck we will have it in 15 minutes.

@robyduck thanks so much! I noticed a few issues:

  • the AMIs presented don't match the ones from my email from a while back - I tried to dig through the code and figure out how to fix it but I failed :(. I assume this information gets populated from fedimg_vars.py?
  • https://getfedora.org/cloud does not redirect to cloud.fp.o or alt.fp.o/cloud

I figured this one out: https://pagure.io/fedora-websites/pull-request/626

Ok, the PR has been merged (thanks a lot) and I also did the redirect for getfedora.org/cloud (live in a bit). Anything else I missed? :)

closing this as fixed. only think left was link to docker image from cloud page but i'm opening a new ticket for "container" website work.

well. looks like I can't close the issue. @robyduck - please close as fixed!

Hi,
I'm looking at https://alt.fedoraproject.org/cloud/ and I'd like to ask to mention oVirt[1] project as well
since oVirt can use Fedora 25 Cloud Base Images as well.
