#497 Issues with the greek version of getfedora.org
Closed: Invalid None Opened 9 years ago by alexpl.

Hello,

Today I got to the getfedora.org website after it was mentioned in the devel list. The site picked that I am in Greece, so I was presented with the greek version of the page and I noticed several issues:

  1. Incomplete translation
Besides a few headers and links that appear in greek, the rest of the page is in english. I think it would be better to keep it all in english until a full text translation has been provided.

  2. Accented capitalized words
Greek has accented letters, but not when words are in all-caps. There are a couple of rules that apply "text-transform: uppercase" to words that were accented in lowercase. This is a mistake, but it also breaks the text flow and it looks weird/ugly. (This is also a common issue with many CMS templates that don't take into account the accents)

  3. Font inconsistencies
The page uses the Montserrat font from Google, which doesn't contain a greek subset, so the fallback fonts are used. This would not be a problem in itself had the translation been completed.

Hi, I see this issue is mainly a translation issue, therefor it's not website related. Greek translations are completed by 18%, that's rather few, but you could help out and help them to get things done.

The best would be to get in contact with the greek L10n team and try to translate the strings in the next days. We are blocking translations from teams which are under 10% (although we wanted to set it higher), so the greek translation actually is pulled and published normally.
