Doing this lets us add fedoraproject.org to our Google+ page as our official site. (It's their way of confirming that site actually belongs to us.)
By adding a short line of code to http://fedoraproject.org/, you can make your Google+ page eligible to show up on the right hand side of the Google search page for relevant queries and make your Google+ page more discoverable.
Ask your site's webmaster to add the following line of code to your site's homepage: Google+
Hi Ruth, nice idea. However, what you are proposing is to add a link directly to the G+ page. Either we hide it (verify still OK), or we display it.
If we need to display it, it could probably go there: http://fedoraproject.org/join-fedora
I agree with shaiton, the best solution would be to hide it with CSS, but if we really want to display it, it should go to join-fedora.
We also should be consistent then and display all the social network channels we have, not only one.
Ok, then: I went for the first solution. It is hidden on the index. Should works for the google crawler.
I don't know how long we should wait, or if you can be notified.. I don't see any change at the G+ page.
Reopen if not fixed for you. And if you need to add the G+ link on the page (join-fedora?) create a new ticket for that, as we would then add Facebook probably and others. (I don't want to personaly, hence I won't open this ticket :))
