This is how it [the favicon] looks in black background. The white dots shouldnt be there.

favicon on black background screenshot
new PNG favicon with transparency ..
Can someone put the newly attached PNG as the favicon and check? And it wont matter if you let it stay as PNG. Converting to ICO might make it lose transparency..
What you provided is great. The favicon we currently have has two layers on it for 16x16 and 32x32.
It can be found here: http://git.fedorahosted.org/git/?p=fedora-web.git;a=tree;f=fedoraproject.org/static/images;h=80d306a15abea3d51f30417f2ce69ab70c9826bc;hb=HEAD
If you update that file, I'd be more than happy to publish the changes.
Thanks again for the report.
I need to get GIT setup in my new system, once I do so, I'll update it.

I just discovered the multilayer favicon... I tried to create a new file. However it looks exactly the same with dark background. I can't manage to export a better one.

Wow, I just found the right way.. We need to include the pics in the other way around... From the smaller to the higher resolution (or just reorder the layer stack).
Works now, we have a bit heavier favicon but nice.
Would be alive in 1h from now.
