This is a follow-up of #73

Status: The module is part of fedora since F36 and installs nicely via dnf. In some ways, it supports NFS and Samba shares.

Origins:

• Triggered by an ask-fedora event
• Promising solution found on github: 45Drives/cockpit-file-sharing (code and module documentation)
• Alexander Bokovoy and Stephen Gallagher did the packaging, etc. work.

Current status:

• It is not part of the default installation set but has to get installed post-installation
  […]# dnf install cockpit-file-sharing
• You can not install it via cockpit interface (applications) even if logged in as root
• After reload / (re)start of Cockpit you get a new navigation entry File Sharing
• Obviously there is no localization
• Initially, there is only a hint about a required configuration regarding Samba and NFS

Questions to be dealt with and decided upon:

• Are the capabilities sufficient?
  E.g. NFS v4 support, Samba user management and share management complete?
• Further documentation in Fedora Server required regarding usage and/or configuration?
• Further improvements?
  • Localization
  • Integration into Cockpit module infrastructure to make it an application
  • Adding capabilities

Ongoing discussion

• There is an additional info about configuration by cooltshirtguy
• There is an offer by Stephen Gallagher to add the cockpit integration as time permits.
• There is a controversial discussion on mailing list about how to handle it further (scroll down, unfortunately, we can't split the thread).
