There's an ongoing proposal to add specific release criteria covering graphical package managers, and I've filed a ticket for creating manual test cases covering those criteria once they're finalized. Once the test cases exist, we should automate them in openQA.
This is underway for GNOME.
There is a new test case written by @kparal for Software, so I will try to adapt the current Software test to make what suggested.
