#88 Welcome to Fedora telometto

Hello @telometto! Welcome to Fedora!

Before we begin, please subscribe to the Fedora join mailing list at
fedora-join@lists.fedoraproject.org
.
We use this list for general discussion, and it is also where the community
shares tasks that need help.

Then, could you please introduce yourself (preferably on the list) so that the
community can get to know you? (interests, skills, anything you wish to say
about yourself really)

In the meantime, these links would be a good read. They tell you what the
Free/Open Source community is about, and then they'll introduce you to Fedora:
what Fedora is all about, and what we do, and of course, how we do it:

If you have any questions at all, please ask! We'll use this ticket to keep in
touch! :)

Hello @telometto
So, you are interested in translations.
Once you have finished to read the aforementioned links, you could subscribe the https://lists.fedorahosted.org/archives/list/trans@lists.fedoraproject.org/ mailing list and send an introduction there.
As you could have seen, there are various mailing lists related to translation, i18n, g18n, and not all of them are actually very active. Try to join some of them, related to the language you are interested in, and try to look if there is someone active. Same thing for pages you can find in the wiki, some of them are very outdated, many things have changed over the years. As a note, translating the wiki is pretty pointless nowadays, since all the documentation (including how tos) in the docs.f.o site.
If you want to translate some string, you can use https://translate.fedoraproject.org/, just log in with your FAS account and start translating!

If you have any question, please ask!

(Join SIG note, @telometto sent a ticket asking to join the community here: https://pagure.io/fedora-join/Fedora-Join/issue/237)

Hello @telometto, how are you?
You could also subscribe the Italian users mailing list. It is not very active nowadays, btw. But we could start to think to (re)create an active Italian community.
There is also a Telegram group, but it is more a users group and not very involved in the Fedora Project.

Hello, Akash! (Hope you don't mind me calling you that. If else, please let me know)

I have been very busy lately with school and my newborn son so, to be completely honest, this had sort of slipped my mind.
Exams are over for the summer holidays, so now I have time to get to work on something,

Thanks for reminding me and if I struggle with finding out how to proceed, I will definitely let you know!

-Cheers

You have my best wishes! I really appreciate your initiative and we would definitely answer all your questions as and when you seem to have them. Please take some time out if you need it as you can always come back and resume from wherever you left off.

Hey there,

Please note that this is the final progress check we are making from our end - failing to respond to in seven days of which - we would close this ticket. Don't worry though - we understand that there can be circumstances due to which you are unable to devote time but you can come back later too and continue contributing from wherever you left off.

We did not hear back from the assignee for some time so I am going ahead and closing the ticket. The assignee is free to come back anytime, reopen the ticket and continue on from wherever they left off.
