#11967 Toddlers are not processing - gdeschner@redhat.com is disabled in ldap.corp.redhat.com
Closed: Fixed 14 days ago by zlopez. Opened 14 days ago by zlopez.

Describe what you would like us to do:

There were some messages not being processed by toddlers. I looked into it and found that all the toddlers are now processing packager_bugzilla_sync. Failing on Fault 32000: 'Red Hat accounts that cannot be verified in LDAP can only be disabled. To enable updates for "gdeschner@redhat.com" a valid LDAP record must be created or configured on ldap.corp.redhat.com.'.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

asap

So for now I fixed this by adding 4 more pods to toddlers, but we need to fix it more permanently.

From the error message it seems that the account is no longer active in red hat, but it's set as active in fedora (@gd) and it's a maintained of 7 packages (https://src.fedoraproject.org/user/gd/projects).

What should we do with this?

I have few options here:

  1. Ask @gd to change the e-mail

  2. Add blacklist to toddlers for packager_bugzilla_sync and skip the e-mail

  3. Process the error on toddlers and skip the user when encountered.

IMHO, we should:

  1. Fix the toddler to catch this exception and note it. Perhaps it should email about it?

and also:

  1. Use https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/fesco/Policy_for_nonresponsive_package_maintainers/#notes-for-invalid-email-addresses to start the non responsive maintainer process on that user.

Oh, what is going here? I have no clue but there always was a confusion in Red Hat for the past 15 or so years that my RH account was 'gdeschne' but my RH BZ account 'gdeschner@redhat.com' (note the additional 'r'). With the move to IBM (in Jan 2023) it even got worse and sometimes my RH BZ account is not working properly at all. I definitely own both email addresses still though. Shall I request a clarification from within Red Hat?

Oh fun. :(

Yes, please do inquire internally. I think some automated tooling decided that your bugzilla account wasn't a valid user and marked it invalid or something.

Feel free to CC me ( kfenzi@redhat.com )if you like, happy to provide more info if they need it...

I created the fix for the bugzilla_packager_sync in this PR.

The change is now deployed in production.

But I noticed that the issue with gdeschner@redhat.com mail was already gone, probably solved on Red Hat side.

I'm closing this as fixed now.
