#11390 Getting "401 Unauthorized" while attempting to log into GitLab using SAML
Closed: Fixed a year ago by kevin. Opened a year ago by t0xic0der.

Describe what you would like us to do:

I have been trying to access the database-models repository https://gitlab.com/fedora/websites-apps/fedora-badges/database-models that I have been unable to as when I attempt to reauthenticate myself using SAML - I get told that there is an "Authentication Failure" (or in some cases, "401 Unauthorized") even when I enter the correct credentials.

@zlopez and @jnsamyak have confirmed to be facing the same issue.

When do you need this to be done by? (YYYY/MM/DD)

I have been blocked from progressing further on my work due to this issue so I would appreciate it if this gets solved as soon as possible.

I looked at the logs on IPA and ipsilon servers and didn't see anything in IPA, but there is 401 in Ipsilon log, but not any detail why it was rejected.

I tried it and it works for me in my browser session, but when trying private window I'm getting 401 as well.

I think the problem may have been sssd on ipsilon01.

It had in /var/log/secure:

Jun 28 23:37:18 ipsilon01 [3810739]: pam_sss(ipsilon:auth): received for user <redacted>: 4 (System error)

I restarted sssd there and I suspect it's back to normal. I am not sure what caused it to do that tho... can you confirm it's working again normally?

Yep, I can confirm that it is working now.

Thanks, @kevin!
