#90 New meeting time
Closed: Complete 5 years ago by jonatoni. Opened 5 years ago by jonatoni.

We need a new meeting time that works for everyone (or most of us). Here are the results from the last WhenIsGood poll we filled out http://whenisgood.net/sbe4xa7/results/y8wtixg - it seems we don't have a match for now.

@bee2502 can you also vote and then we can see which time to choose?

thanks @bee2502

...so from the poll the best options are Thursday 6 pm but @amsharma and @jflory7 can't make it or Thursday 7 pm but @amsharma and @solanch69 can't make it. (times are GMT/UTC)

@amsharma @solanch69 can you make it if we chose Thursday 7 pm UTC? or @amsharma @jflory7 can you make it if we chose Thursday 6 pm UTC?

6 PM UTC is midnight in India. Please consider a time which is suitable for this part of the world too.

I am most flexible on Mondays and Thursdays with the times I selected in the poll. If it's in those times, I can definitely make the commitment to actively participate each week. Tue-Wed-Fri is more likely I have an academic conflict that prevents me from participating on short notice.

We are slowly trying to get Mindshare to be less meeting focused. I wonder if there is a way this strategy could work for Diversity too. The challenge is that this means people have to be good at radiating their "status" in tickets and doing work outside of meetings. It also makes discussions more complex.

As Fedora is getting a Taiga instance, perhaps the kanban style will make it easier to break things into small pieces that can be worked in a visible manner.

I am just "spitballing" here. I have not updated the poll as I should not be a block on meeting time (and my schedule ZOMG so bad right now).

@jonatoni at what time meetings are running now a days? Is it the time showed in meeting invite mail?
As per logs, last meeting was on 2018-09-07 , do we want to opt for less meeting focused strategy as bex suggested or we want to rerun the poll?

@amsharma yes, that's right, we didn't have meetings and it is very hard to find a new meeting time that fits for everyone. We can just keep the current meeting time we have, but we need to find someone that can chair. I'm not sure yet if I can chair with the current meeting time we have. If we choose to hold it on weekend (Saturday or Sunday) I can chair the meeting.

@amsharma @jflory7 @bee2502 @solanch69 @recursedd @mmmmmmbeer @all what do you propose? Keeping the current meeting time (if yes, is someone free to chair) or shift on weekend (Saturday or Sunday)?

Also, I'm +1 with bex and I like the approach that Mindshare is following.

I am sorry but current time and weekends don't work for me.
I am in favor of bex's idea.

@amsharma do you propose another meeting time or you cannot attend the meetings at all? But instead, you can just comment and give feedback on the tickets.

Yes, that's what we will do. We will have less meetings and we will comment on the tickets to have more work done.

I can do meetings during week days during second half of the day i.e. 2 PM - 6 PM IST.
I am also okay to comment and give feedback on the tickets.

But I think once in a while meeting is important to be in sync. Can we try bi-weekly?

What day do you propose? We used to have our meetings on Friday and +1 to do it again on Friday. We had a lot of people participating.

I am also okay to comment and give feedback on the tickets.

+1, that's why I think we should continue having meetings

Can we try bi-weekly?

Sure.

I am overloaded for my next semester and I won't be able to commit to meetings, at least for now. I can catch up on the minutes and watch for new activity in tickets. I wish I had more time to contribute over the next few months. :disappointed:

However, I think a regular meeting time even with 2-3 people is a good idea to keep a steady pace of activity.

We will continue having our meetings on Friday, 13:00 UTC. This week I will not be able to chair because of FOSDEM, but starting from next week, Feb. 8, we will continue having regular meetings. If someone else can chair for this week please let me know to add it on Fedocal, otherwise see you all next week. For those that cannot participate please have a look at the tickets and give your feedback.

I am closing this ticket, but if someone has another proposal for the meetings please feel free to open it again.
