Closed: Not possible 5 years ago Opened 6 years ago by amsharma.

Planning for Diversity FAD - 2018. We are in planning phase, Thanks @bee2502 for starting with - https://etherpad.persephone.cloud/p/diversity-fad-2018
Main motivation behind this FAD is - https://pagure.io/fedora-diversity/issue/54
We want to brainstorm all the ideas for Fedora events mentioned in the ticket #54. So that we can get the feasibility of how many of them can be implemented in Flock,2018 along with Fedora Action and Impact Coordinator.

I hope we can find more topics for this FAD. Ticket #54 and #48 don't seem like enough to justify the expense of a non-V-FAD.

Also, having team meeting (on BJN) this Friday to discuss about it.

Hello everyone, I have started this wiki page with the information that we discussed in our last BJN meeting , with the help of the etherpad -
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/FAD_Diversity_2018

@jflory7 @jonatoni @bee2502 and everyone please check the wiki page and suggest the edits. Thanks.

Looking at the wiki I have a few concerns:

The dates of the FAD run into Easter which may or may cause problems with attendees. I am not sure if I am needed for this FAD, though someone did add me to the attendee list and mark me confirmed. I cannot make these dates in this city.

The topics being discussed still don't feel very in-person FAD to me:

  • Wiki page edits

    • I am not sure why this needs to be done in person. Reorganizing material has, in my experience, been most successful when someone proposes the new structure for edit, not when done as a group-think activity. I also believe we should try to identify what is problematic as the text hints at some stuff, but it isn't clear what the real problem is
  • Fedora Event support ideas

    • I would have expected to see these explored more in the regular meetings and tickets before being sent to a FAD. I don't see where these conversations have broken down and need higher bandwidth.
  • New Speaker Initiatives

    • Has this been discussed with ambassadors yet?
    • The specifics mentioned don't seem to be about increasing speakers
    • Again, I don't see where the groundwork has been done in tickets for these ideas
  • Involvement with other D&I activities

    • This is a strategy conversation that could be useful to have in a FAD. I don't think it alone justifies a FAD, especially as I haven't seen any start on the ideas yet.
  • Fedora Women's Days in 2018

    • This has been a huge success and we grew it last year without a FAD. Why do we need one this year? Did I miss how the FAD was an integral part in growing this event last year?
