#137 Ideas for "good-first-issues" for D&I team
Closed: moved 4 years ago by orionstar25. Opened 4 years ago by orionstar25.

I realized that this ticket is an extension of #128, #132, #134.

As a newcomer to Fedora's D&I resources, I found certain things unclear:

  1. Problem:
There is no place which shows current statistics about the diversity situation in Fedora.
    Suggestions:

      1. A simple dynamic counter (absolute value) or a percentage for under representation linked with FAS can help us gauge our goals (e.g. aspire to have a 50:50 ratio by 20xx).
      2. A dynamic dashboard/metrics (with visual graphs) showing the variation in diversity across Fedora on the landing page.
      3. A possible badge for this? E.g. <insert gender> in Fedora

  2. Problem:
I feel the resources aim at people who want to directly help with the D&I cause, i.e., mentor, hold outreach events and campaigns, collaborate across teams.
    Suggestions:
Incorporate "Go-To" resources if someone wants to indirectly help the cause (maybe because they're not up to taking leadership roles yet) like (but not limited to):

      1. **Participate in Outreachy:**
2.1.1. Mention past interns and community heads,
2.1.2. Mention their Outreachy related blogs,
2.1.3. Point towards the website for more details
      2. **Participate in ongoing FWD events across the world:**
2.2.1. Mention past FWD events and their organizers,
               2.2.2. Mention their FWD blogs,
2.2.3. Showcase feedback gathered from these sessions in a visual way
2.2.4. Show oncoming FWD events all in one place, so that everything is easily accessible.
2.2.5. Point towards resources for effective participation and future organisers (already exists but put all of this under 1 umbrella).
2.3. **Want to create content for the D&I team solely for exposure, experience and learning purposes:**
               2.3.1. Event posters, badges
               2.3.2. Documentation,
               2.3.3. Create/revamp dashboards/websites for above mentioned ideas.

  3. Problem:
Make the Welcome to the "Fedora Diversity & Inclusion Team" mailing list email more informative.
    Suggestions:

    1. Point towards archives
    2. Rephrase this:

You can make such adjustments via email by sending a message to:
    diversity-request@lists.fedoraproject.org
with the word 'help' in the subject or body (don't include the
quotes), and you will get back a message with instructions. You will
need your password to change your options, but for security purposes,
this email is not included here. If you have forgotten your password
you will need to click on the 'Forgot Password?' link on the login
    page.

I tried to consolidate ideas I found in the first glance. I apologize in advance if some of these resources are already built and I was unaware. Looking forward to all of your feedback!
