#107 I am Fedora - Video
Closed: complete 5 years ago by jflory7. Opened 5 years ago by tatica.

Following @bee2502 and @chhavi efforts [1], would be a nice idea to produce an "I am Fedora" video gathering as many diverse people as we can.

Time Needed:

  • 1 hour session to record the videos
  • 2 hours post-production

Do you folks think this could be a good idea to invite people join Fedora and showcase this video on FADs, Release Parties, Events, etc ? A way to show the people behind Fedora ?

@tatica I like this idea. I think we can start slowly by collecting video and then work on producing something at the end of the year.

I think we can collect videos in three ways:

  • Short interviews at Flock
  • Ask local FWD organizers to record a video and send it over to us
  • Open a call for submissions on the Community Blog asking people to send us videos at other Fedora-related events around the year

This way, I don't think we are adding too much extra work on our Flock plate and we can break this up over time.

What do you think?

My only concern is video quality. To have a well produced video, some settings and gear must be equal/similar.

I like the idea of collect videos during a year, however, try to contact photographers within Fedora that can provide a video with the needed quality

@tatica Perhaps we can make a note about video quality when we ask for submissions, e.g. videos submitted must be 1080p quality or better? I understand the value of using high-quality video too. I think so long as we are transparent about this up-front, we can always choose to use or not to use a submitted video.

Do you agree? Or what do you think is the best way to handle this?

Yeah, we can totally have a demo video and a scrip so people know what to submit. I like this idea a lot!

@x3mboy should have some videos from Flock last year, because we had the same idea last year but we just didn't had the chance to merge all the videos in one.

That sounds terrific, if I can get those videos somehow I could start working ASAP.

Thanks @tatica for bringing this up. I would really like to see some new content being created.

However, before we create one, I would really like to bring up this topic during FLOCK 1x1 coffee sessions and collect feedback on our existing video from community, especially ambassadors.

  1. Do they know of the video? Have they used it at event or conference? If no, why not?
  2. How was the video received at events and conferences? Did they drive any engagement because of the video?
  3. What new video content would they like to see i.e. more focus on technical/ non-technical contributions or SIGs etc? What should be our focus?

Based on the feedback, we can decide what to focus on in our new video content. What do you think? @tatica

Also, I am +1 to reusing the content from last years FLOCK! We also have some content from FLOCK 2017 when there was an interview booth(organized) and people talked about their involvement and contributions to Fedora community. I think that would be great to use too.

@tatica did you had the chance to work with the videos from last year's Flock?

This is a late follow-up from Flock 2019, but @tatica did an awesome job on pulling together a video! Not only did she run the interviews, but she compiled them, edited them, and published it live at Flock! When I saw this video at the end of Flock on the big screen, I was so amazed! :boom:

Currently the video has nearly 1,000 views. It focuses on Flock 2019, but I think it says a lot about our community too. I am closing this ticket as complete. :clapper: We can push forward new videos/ideas in new tickets.

:tada: Special shout-outs to people who featured in the video (I tried to get them all but I know I missed some!): :tada:
