Hi @solanch69, thanks for proposing a FWD event in Cusco! 🎉
We plan to make a first review of FWD applications this week or early next week, per discussion in fedora-diversity#66. You can expect to hear back on your proposal sometime in the next week.
@solanch69 said… Where can I contact the organizers? any means to communicate?
The best way to get in touch with us is via our mailing list or our IRC / Telegram chat room. You can find them below:
@solanch69 said… What do you plan to cover in the agenda for your FWD event? Women to power Problems related to the use of Fedora
I was curious. Could you explain more these two items in your agenda?
Hi @solanch69 – we discussed your FWD proposal at the Diversity & Inclusion team sprint at Flock 2018. We would like additional information about your event.
What kind of people do you expect to attend your event in Limá?
This is helpful to think about ahead of time. Your topics you present should depend on who you expect to attend your event. If developers attend your event, you may want to promote technical parts of Fedora (like packaging or infrastructure) or share technology meet-up groups. If students attend your event, you may want to promote beginner topics. These are only examples.
Could you better estimate or guess who might attend your event?
Is a venue already planned? We were curious where your event may be held and if it will cost anything to host it at a venue.

@jflory7 said… Hi @solanch69, thanks for proposing a FWD event in Cusco! 🎉
Hi @jflory7 , The event will be in Lima, Peru not in Cusco
@jflory7 said… I was curious. Could you explain more these two items in your agenda?
What is free software? we'll talk about an introduction to Free Software and Fedora, invitation to contribute to the Fedora project.
Women in power We will talk about success stories and the inclusion of women in technology.
Fedora Related Topics start with the use of Fedora, each attendee will have a machine with Fedora so that they can become familiar with it.
@jflory7 said... Audience What kind of people do you expect to attend your event in Limá?
The event is aimed at beginners and the general public Last year, I was one of the speakers at Fedora-Lima Women's Day 2017. It was attended by 14 year old young people, with knowledge of free software, who promised that the following year (2018) they would recommend Linux to their friends, also there were 45 year old people, who had no knowledge of Fedora but were interested.

It is planned to take place in the computer lab of a university, so there will be no cost for accommodation.
Hello @solanch69 , update your ticket and write the name of the faculty and university where the event will be hosted ( in Location ). In the Audience write a bit more specific information about the attendees, for example: school students with free libre software knowledge, university students, teachers, etc.
Good luck
Thanks for the information, @solanch69. And thanks @alexove for the quick reply.
I am +1 to approving the event request. We'll give other members of the team a chance to review for any feedback until Monday or Tuesday.
In the meanwhile, consider these points while you plan your event:
We plan to share a resource pack with FWD event organizers in early September.
The resource pack will include information on Fedora editions / objectives, content on Fedora <3 Python, and more. Once available, we encourage you to make use of it for your event.
Please promote different ways to get involved and participate in the Fedora community.
When promoting the Fedora community, we encourage you to include other opportunities to contribute across Fedora. A great resource is whatcanidoforfedora.org. An overview of the different Fedora sub-projects is helpful to include. We plan to include other suggestions for this in the resource pack.
Please collect participation metrics about the number of attendees and other information you think is useful.
We want to better understand how FWD events impact the local communities and Fedora. At a minimum, please note the number of attendees at your event. Other numbers may be useful depending on your event.
Some suggestions are…

+1 from me as well. @solanch69 @zodiacfireworks please don't forget the points that Justin mentioned, especially the metrics part because it is a very important part for us to better understand the impact of the FWD. Good luck with the event and feel free to reach out to us if you have any question or need help.

if you have some more time, you can do a mini hackfest where the newcomers can start taking beginner steps towards contributing to Fedora. One way to do this can be a fedora badges Hackathon or a mini localisation sprint. Fixing easyfix tasks is a good way to get started for newcomers - especially because they get to contribute during the event and get acquainted with different parts of fedora project. We have a list of easy to collect badges in CommOps for onboarding newcomers which you can use.

Other numbers may be useful depending on your event. Some suggestions are… Gender ratio of attendees How many people are newcomers and how many people already are contributors / have a Fedora account Badges earned by attendees during event (not including attendee badge) Other ideas unique to your event and audience

Can you tell us more about this talk? Who will be the speakers? Do you have any female speakers in mind to give this talk? While success stories help, it is generally found that the impact is higher if you have active role models talking about their experience.
@solanch69 thanks for the proposal. +1 for the approval and all the best for the event. We soon will share the drive location where you will be able to put the event pictures. So, plan to take as many pictures as you can for the event.
Along with pictures, it will be great if you will be able to share the presentation slides and any video recordings of talk if possible. More information on this will be provided in future.
Thanks.

According to https://pagure.io/mindshare/issue/32 , we need to send mail to bex (Brian Exelbierd bexelbie@redhat.com) in order to get the swags/stickers for the Fedora Women Day event.
I request organizers who need to get these swags and stickers to please mail Brian Exelbierd bexelbie@redhat.com asap in order to get them timely.
Ok thanks for the information. I will send the mail
:) Hi @amsharma I wrote a message to bex and it is probable that I will not be able to assist you until after September 12th for technical reasons (difficult internet access), so I will write to Matew Miller at bex's indication so you can attend to my topic :)

Thank you for organizing your FWD event! On behalf of the Fedora D&I team, we hope it was a success. :tada: We have two updates for you:
To close out your FWD event, please write an event report no more than three weeks from your FWD event date. Your event report should be published on the Fedora Community Blog, but a personal blog is also acceptable. Don't forget to include one to three pictures! :camera:
The Community Blog uses WordPress, so you can write and draft your article on the Community Blog site. If you need help, please reach out in this ticket.
Note: An event report is required to receive reimbursement for your event.
Once your event report is published and you share a link to it in this ticket, you can request reimbursement for your event. To request reimbursement, open an issue here:
https://pagure.io/fedora-budget/new_issue
@bex will work with you to reimburse the costs of your event. Remember to save all original receipts for your event expenses.
See more information on the event reimbursement process.
@solanch69 published her event report on the Community Blog:
communityblog.fedoraproject.org/fedora-womens-day-2018-lima-peru/
This looks like it was an amazing event. Thank you @solanch69 for organizing this! I am closing this ticket as complete. :clapper: Please open a pagure.io/fedora-budget ticket for reimbursements.
