@vaishnavi @jonatoni Per the upcoming contributing guidelines, I think this is a better feature to send upstream. An emoji bar also benefits the upstream project.
I think it is okay to accept this ticket, but we should send the pull request to upstream mxsasha/happinesspackets and then apply the patch downstream on our project.

Yep, I agree with your approach. We should always send PR also to the upstream project when we implement new features. But then it is up to them if they want to accept it or not - and we can implement the feature for our project if we think it is a good idea :)

@jonatoni :thumbsup: Great. I accepted this ticket for future work. This would be a good change to send both to upstream and can be worked on in our downstream fork.

Given the constraints of CKEditor 5 in #121, emojis are out of scope to include in the default editor for now. As mentioned in #121, we can always revisit if CKEditor adds emoji support later.
For now, I'm closing this as not possible. :ocean:
