#736 Badge for Fedora Join SiG Team
Opened 4 years ago by nasirhm. Modified 2 years ago

Help the badges team understand what this idea is all about. If this badge is
awarded for certain kinds of activities:

1) What are those activities?
- Becoming the Part of the Join SiG

2) Who is doing them (are they packagers? translators? newcomers? veterans?
users? sponsors?)
- As FAS connectivity is off from the Fedmsg, It would be great if the current Join SiG Admins/Sponsors can get access to award it, Their FAS Id's :

@ankursinha @alciregi @immanetize @linuxmodder @mailga @x3mboy @bt0dotninja @dhanesh95 @hhlp @siddharthvipul1 @skamath

3) Why are they doing them (is this a means to a different end?)
- Helping newcomers be a part of fedora

4) When do they do them (every day? once a year?)
- Whenever a person Becomes a Proud member of the Join SiG

Lastly, do you have any ideas for artwork concepts?
- In the Join SiG's Artwork folder we have some previous designs made for the Telegram logo, 2 were approved to used. One is being used as Telegram Page, the otherone can become a Perfect Badge.

hello team, based on the initial deliberations on this badge, I took the liberty of modeling one of the designed Join SiG logo into a badge.

Looks Awesome, Let's see what others think.

This is a community badge so the border should align with the the color of community badge.

I believe this now meets the criteria for the community badge. Here

I'm +1 for this, Thank You

hi @transcendence09 I like it! A couple improvements need to be made:

  • the panda on the left is using a black outline, we try to avoid using black. I think the dark blue is off too, play around with the colors, maybe the dark blue panda won't work for this application
  • I opened the file and it is not in the template, please put it in a template
  • I noticed there are a lot of edges that are not lined up, make sure to go in and fix up those details
  • the color of the white on the light blue panda is an off white, make sure that's pure white :)

Thanks!

Wow!

It looks good; I'm desperately waiting to get this.

Hello @riecatnor I would love to Improve on this artwork.

Hello @riecatnor @ankursinha @alciregi @immanetize @linuxmodder @mailga @x3mboy @bt0dotninja @dhanesh95 @siddharthvipul1 @skamath What do you think about this? this is in png will send svg on the final designs

Hi @emem what a stylish dude! The artwork is nifty, unfortunately, it doesn't fit in with the Fedora badges aesthetic. I think it would be great to go back to the design in https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issue/736#comment-643239 and rework it. A variation of this artwork has already been used for the Join SIG telegram group. The design from that comment is very close to being finished. I think the improvements that can be made are the following:

  1. There is some empty space at the top, rework the composition to make that space less obvious.
  2. Add in a dark orange outline to the orange panda.
  3. Simplify the design a little bit, try removing the pink panda. This should also help with the empty space.

Good luck!

I appreciate your comment @riecatnor on my work.
I have taken note of the corrections suggested and here is the modification of the design.
Fedora_badge_correction.svg

Hi @emem nice improvement! I think you are getting closer, but the vectors need a little more work. A couple points:

  1. Always upload a SVG and PNG for review on the ticket.

  2. The file looks incorrect. Try opening a new template file and import the old artwork in.

  3. Adjust the pandas to compensate for some of the awkward spaces. The panda arms should have some space between. The area on the bottom left and bottom right need some adjustments as well.

Looking forward to your next draft :) Thanks!

Hi @emem this looks much better! A few pieces of feedback for you:

  1. I think some of the vectors need a little more finessing, there are some gaps between the eyes and the outline of the panda.

  2. Try playing with the placement of the blue panda a bit. The left edge has a lot of "lost bits" where you can only see little glimpses. Try to simplify.

  3. The orange used for the panda on the right should be the Fedora orange :)

Looking forward to the next draft!

Hi, @riecatnor , been waiting on your review on this.

Hi @emem thanks for working on this! A couple notes for you:
- Refer back to this comment https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issue/736#comment-698782
- there is still some gaps, and the colors are off, this is the correct color combo for the orange panda: https://badges.fedoraproject.org/badge/packager-sponsor
- I think I was not clear, when I said change the placement, I didn't mean to put them on an angle.. and there is a bit of that issue still with pieces cut off awkwardly

Looking forward to the next draft!

Looks great to me @dhairya15 setting artwork to approved. Thanks!

Whoever pushed this please note:
- use the art from: https://pagure.io/fedora-badges/issue/736#comment-741440
- title of the badge should be "Welcome Wagon"

ok, taking that ticket

Done, should be good in a few minutes.

Hi @misc awesome thanks! I think this one will need to be tagged "community" to show up under the right area on the badges site. Also, I am curious if its connected the the Join SIG FAS group as I see it hasn't been awarded yet.

It is not connected, since we lost network access to FAS when it moved to Openshift, and even more when FAS2 moved to the junkyard. So I am not even sure how to do that.

I will see how I can tag the badge, but I think that requires maybe to go directly in the DB. I will see tomorrow, unless another admin beat me to it.

Hi everyone, thanks for all your help: is this one ready for use now (either automatically or manually)?

I see that the badge was pushed, but there is some issue with awarding it. @misc is there any update on how to proceed further?
