#431 AWS images are not tagged
Closed: fixed 6 months ago by jcline. Opened 6 months ago by msuchy.

Fedora's AMIs for Fedora 40 did not have any tag. And per https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/infra/sysadmin_guide/aws-access/#_role_and_user_policies all resource MUST have a tag. Otherwise it may be deleted.
Note that I am deleting resources without a tag and I almost deleted all Fedora 40 GA AMIs.

I tagged them for you now. See https://lists.fedoraproject.org/archives/list/infrastructure@lists.fedoraproject.org/message/AX7RRWL2GPC4UQ4LZ7T52DWVT7ERB4TL/

It would be great if you could tag future AMI with the tag
FedoraGroup=ga-archives

This was on me - I wasn't aware of the tagging policy when I wrote the replacement to fedimg.

We separately had a report that we were hitting limits for public AMIs and I learned about the Delete tag as well as the FedoraGroup tag. I read the documentation to be that the FedoraGroup tag should be something like CloudSIG. New AMIs should include that tag, but there's a period without tags (sorry).

I can adjust the FedoraGroup tag to be ga-archives if that's what it's supposed to be.

No problem. If you know about any AMI that still may be not tagged let me know.

No need. Any string will work. I just need to know that it belongs somebody and it is not a leftover.

I don't, and I believe all future ones we create should be tagged with a group along with a Delete tag set to the image end-of-life, but I don't have an AWS account to look at the results. Do let me know if you spot anything odd and I'll be happy to make it right, and thanks for letting us know :smile:

Perfect, thank you! Since the tagging is in place and you kindly tagged the ones we uploaded without a tag I'll close this.
