#68 Need sponsorship for staying in PyCon USA
Closed: Fixed None Opened 11 years ago by kushal.

I need help for staying during PyCon in Santa Clara in USA. Event dates are March 13 to March 21st. I am reaching there on 11th and will be flying back on 22nd.

I will presenting a poster session [1] on Darkserver project which was a Fedora 17 feature and will also attend Education summit to discuss our work in India with Fedora and Python in schools and colleges. I will also take part in the development sprints.

famna approved paying for herlo and would like me to share that room with apac sponsoring me. herlo will be there for 5 nights (14-18) and I would require stay for 6 more nights.

Expected Hotel charges $149 per night (plus taxes)

Total budget: $375 (for 5 nights with room sharing) and $900 for the rest 6 nights. Total $1275

I see $1,275 is not a small amount (at least, compare to APAC proposed budget [1]).
Do you want to request a full support or just a part? (if so, how much do you want to support?)

Also, please note that, according to Reimbursement rules [1], requests of $1,000+, "A ticket must be filed on the FAmSCo Trac prior to the expenditures to be considered"

If APAC can sponsor half of the budget (around $600) I will try to find other means for the rest 6 nights.

It's clear enough. Thanks.

Also from Reimbursement guidelines:
"
$300-1000 USD = The request requires approval from the appropriate regional community (APAC, EMEA, LATAM, or NA)
At least five (5) individual FAm votes required at APAC FAm Bi-Weekly meeting
"

Please read the Reimbursement guidelines carefully and follow it.

Keyword "meeting" has been added to the ticket.

Interesting information. :)

  • Is there flight information or budget for travel needed? Or are travel costs being covered by some other means?

  • Is there any swag that would be useful for your attendance at PyCon USA?

Travel is being sponsored by my company, hotel cost is the biggest problem for me now.

Herlo is also attending and also the Fedora app team, they will be taking care of the swag as I understood.

Hi,

This was discussed at the March 2 APAC meeting.

It was decided that we can fund whatever is within our limits. A +1 for USD 600. If you need more, even up to 1000 USD, you'll have to file a ticket with famsco as Tuan already pointed out. Tuan will try and bring this up at the famsco meeting himself to see if they can fund you, and how much more they can fund you with.

Thanks,[[BR]]
Warm regards, [[BR]]

Thanks. I am trying to stay in another cheaper hotel with room sharing so that I can manage within $600 for the stay.

@kushal: you should attend the APAC meeting this weekend [https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Meeting:APAC_Ambassadors_2013-03-16] to clarify everything.
Hopefully, the final decision would be made in that meeting.
