#115 APPROVED: Travel + Accomodation subsidy for Sarup Banskota to FOSSASIA 2014
Closed: Fixed None Opened 5 years ago by sarupbanskota.

I would be grateful if I was provided funding to attend and present at FOSSASIA 2014. I have been a GSoC student in 2013, where I helped build GlitterGallery(http://github.com/EmilyDirsh/GlitterGallery). I intend to present on how designers can use GlitterGallery for design work collaboration & our future plans. I'm a student, so will find it difficult to bear the expenses on my own, although I'm willing to cover all other minor expenses.

I'll be flying from Coimbatore in India, to Phnom Penh, Cambodia and back.
The flight ticket's cost as of this time is approximately 530 USD.
Flight details (onward): CJB -> CCU -> BKK -> PNH ; 8hr on air, 12 hr waiting
Flight details (return): PNH -> BKK -> CCU -> CJB ; 8hr on air, 16 hr waiting

Note: Accommodation is a separate ticket, #107.

Um, I'm sorry about this, but I'm checking the fares now and it seems like the ones that I had originally intended to book are gone.

The current rates are in the range of 40-42K INR (650-680 USD according to Google).
If I'm lucky, I can book at CJB -> BLR -> BKK -> PNH and back.

It would be great if someone could please explain (or direct me to a link) about the reimbursement process. I possess a visa debit card.

Thanks Tuan!

Please let me know if you have any more questions.

I've just set up a PayPal account and linked it to my bank. The email ID associated with it is sbanskota08 at gmail dot com. The account is under my name, Sarup Banskota.

Is there any more information you'll need?

Hello everyone, I'm back home safely. Thank you for the support, it was a great event!
I've written a blogpost about the event[1].

I'd like to know what information you'll need to reimburse my expenses, and what procedure I should follow next.

Thanks again!

Hi Tuan, based on the guidelines, I've now converted to 2 blog posts. I'm sorry for the delay, I was a bit held up with trips to regional conferences (I actually did quite some Fedora publicity there, I'll blog about it when I get a chance).

I haven't dealt with PayPal before, so please do let me know what I need to do next!
Thanks!

You should register your PayPal account for faster and more reliable reimbursement.

Thanks for approving it Tuan and so sorry for not being able to reply earlier - was a bit held up with my LGM trip. Um, by register, do you mean register for a PayPal account or for some kind of registration with Fedora?

I haven't really used PayPal before, so I'm not quite sure what to do next. I have a PayPal account though.

Thanks in advance!

I meant registering for a PayPal account.

Thanks in advance!

You are welcome.

I meant registering for a PayPal account.

Hi Tuan, I already have one :-) I've also tested it with small transfers. So, what's next? Where do I send my account details?

You need to provide your payment information here and wait for izhar for reimbursement.

It seems his CC and PayPal account are not ready yet, so you need to wait longer. Please be patient.

Sure Tuan, I'll wait! @Izhar, just let me know when you can make it.

Here's the notes:

'''My PayPal account is registered to sbanskota08 <at> gmail <dot> com [Sarup Banskota]'''

Tickets were INR 37162. On Oanda, that converts to 604.177 USD.
The Visa fee was 20 USD.
There were some local charges in India amounting to about 25 USD for me, but I'll pay for them myself.

'''So that's a total of 624 USD.'''

I've uploaded the plane tickets, a copy of the Visa (with the fee), and the boarding passes too :-)
Thank you so much!

Hi Sarup,

is the email address correct? Have you verified your paypal account? .. Paypal seems to be complaining "This transaction cannot be completed" when I'm trying to send to that email address.

Regards.

Hi Izhar,

Thanks for your reply. I did verify, I have attached a screenshot of an email PayPal sent me a while ago. could you try one more time?

The email id is '''sbanskota08''' AT gmail DOT com.

@Izhar, any updates? I just logged into my PayPal, and there seems to be a request payment feature.

Would you like me to request a payment if that makes it easier for you?

Hi Sarup, your reimbursement have just been processed and transferred over.

Closing this ticket :)

Great, I just checked my PayPal, it reflects on it :-)

Thanks everyone!
