#381 For the record: intent to update FPCA text to correct an oversight when we switched to CC-BY-SA
Closed: resolved 2 years ago by mattdm. Opened 2 years ago by mattdm.

See this Fedora legal mailing list thread. In short, when we updated the default content license to CC-BY-SA 4.0, we should have taken out no-longer applicable language and didn't.

I think this is a clerical change not a policy change, and therefore I don't think we need to go through the whole process of a public announcement. I'm going to make that decision through lazy consensus under the council charter -- that is, if you disagree, tell me in the next week and I'll instead open this up to a formal vote.

Otherwise, I'm going to go ahead with the changes I proposed in that thread, which are:

  1. Remove the clause "supplemented by Moral Rights Clause Waiver and GPL
Relicensing Permission" where that appears, and

  2. the whole paragraph defining "Moral Rights Clause Waiver", and

  3. replace "Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike 3.0 Unported" in the FAQ
with "Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0" where it appears, and

  4. entirely remove the question in the FAQ referring to that clause.

It needs to be done, so as Ben said ^ ("Do it!") :)

This is done. I also removed the three paragraphs defining things related to the GPL, since with that clause removed, there was not actually anything to define.

Did you also open an infra ticket to get it updated in Accounts? That's defined locally, not pulled from the wiki.

I did not. Ugh. I'm glad you know that.
