#20 rebranding for f29
Opened 8 months ago by dustymabe. Modified 5 months ago

If it is desired that the word Silverblue replace Atomic Workstation for Fedora 29 there is a lot of work that needs to be done to make that happen and the sooner it happens (before branching) the better for everyone. We will probably also need to submit a System Wide Change proposal.

Do you have a list of some of the places ? We've made the change on projectatomic.org. Then there's https://getfedora.org/en/workstation/download/
What else ?

Everything in releng:

  • What does /etc/os-release say?
  • What does the anaconda install media say?
  • What refs does the user pull from ?
  • What anaconda install class does it use?
  • What is the media named?
  • What variants are used in the pungi configs?

All of these things (and more probably) require changes. We had just got everything done (it took a long time) for Atomic Workstation for f27.

Matt told me he is working on the /etc/os-release part

Here is a change page for tracking this in more detail

I'd really like to suggest that this happen before we branch for f29. If it is done after branch then it's twice the work for the lucky soul that gets to implement it.

From https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Releases/29/Schedule: 2018-08-14 Branch Fedora 29 from Rawhide (Rawhide becomes future F30)

we are missing a silverblue branding on the installer. does it qualify as a bug for this issue?

There's no Silverblue branding, but there's also no misleading branding of another edition - its just generic fedora. When I looked at it, it didn't seem to be an emergency to me, more like a nice-to-have, to get Silverblue-specific branding for the installer.
