#8 Reserve UID/GID for cassandra
Closed: Fixed None Opened 7 years ago by tibbs.

FPC has approved the allocation of a UID/GID pair for the cassandra package:

We're actually unsure of the proper procedure for requesting this, since at one point we were seemingly supposed to do this directly in the setup git tree. No FPC member has access to do that, however, so obviously that won't work.

If there is a better way to pass these requests from FPC to the setup maintainers, please let me know. If there's no response here in a few days, I'll file a bugzilla ticket instead.

Hi, thanks for a ticket here, Toshio wrote the policy with FPC being responsible for forwarding the request. My preference is Fedora Rawhide BZ - as emails from fedorahosted get lost sometimes (Tomas had to contact me via IRC to notify me about this). There are no setup maintainers - it is just me...
IMHO, former workflow via Bugzillas (without involvement of fpc) worked just fine - and for soft static allocation approach it is safe anyway. Basically, a lot of information is missing in this (and fpc request) - like package owning the id, homedir, preferred shell for user (ok, this one is likely /sbin/nologin) ... I will clarify them directly with trepik ...

143:143 pair reserved in setup-2.10.5-1.fc26 . Talked with Tomas Repik and he is fine with Fedora Rawhide reservation atm. Closing.
