This is 20-50 times faster for high latency clients, due to some kind of issue with the HTTP/2 flow control (small record sizes).

Ideally someone would figure out what is wrong with HTTP/2 (might be infra, might be client), but in lieu of that this is an easy fix that makes things a lot less painful, especially for people not in the US.

I decided to modify your suggesion further:

  • Buffer size is not present in the library on every supported release - needs check
  • I don't have enough space to measure/study whether HTTP v1.1 is better in most cases. I think that v2 still has other features that could be beneficial for some users. So they can choose their preferred schema in the configuration.
