#9359 F33 system wide change: Introduce module Obsoletes and EOL
Closed: Fixed 3 years ago by mohanboddu. Opened 4 years ago by dmach.

Introduce new module metadata for Obsoletes and EOL:
https://fedoraproject.org/w/index.php?title=Changes/Module_Obsoletes_and_EOL

Requirements from releng:

  • have a central place for managing the new modulemd documents
  • include the new modulemd documents in Fedora 33's modules.yaml in repodata

I expect that the workflow should be nearly identical to how module defaults are handled today.

Including the new file in the repos will require changes in Pungi. Once the format is finalized and libmodulemd supports it, please open a request to add this functionality.

have a central place for managing the new modulemd documents

Cant we use the modules dit-git for this?

include the new modulemd documents in Fedora 33's modules.yaml in repodata

Well, this is pungi, please file a ticket with pungi when you have it ready.

@dmach What is the status on this? Do you need any help from releng?

@amatej is working on implementation, I'm hoping in a proof of concept this week.
We'll plan the next steps based on how it goes.

I do not expect anything new from releng besides an ability to ship additional modulemd, which should be doable via the existing defaults git repo.

Closing this ticket as the work is moved to F34 and I dont think no releng work is needed on this ticket anyway, please file a new ticket for F34 change.

Thanks.
