#7846 Please unblock epel7 branch of rpms/libssh (and Koji)
Closed: Fixed 5 years ago by mohanboddu. Opened 5 years ago by robert.

  • Describe the issue

The package libssh got part of the rhel-7-{server,workstation}-extras-rpms repo, however only for the x86_64 architecture, but not for aarch64, ppc64 and ppc64le. Thus it is currently not possible to build e.g. tmate for EPEL 7 on all architectures.

As per https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL:Packaging#Limited_Arch_Packages, I would like to import the current RHEL source RPM into EPEL 7 with lower ENVRA, but the epel7 branch of libssh is blocked in Git (and likely also in Koji).

 ! [remote rejected] epel7 -> epel7 (hook declined)

@robert This is a tricky situation since pkgdb is no more. The best way to resolve this is, you can ask the current package maintainers to give you the permissions to maintain the package for epel7 or ask them to unretire it for epel7 (which makes them to maintain it).

Once its done, please come back here (or ask them to update/create a ticket to unblock it in koji if they would like to maintain it) and we will unblock it in koji.

Sorry for this situation as there is no easy way to solve this.

Filed https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1637165, let's see what happens. Just to have it mentioned: Having no more pkgdb is clearly a regression in cases like this.

@mohanboddu, meanwhile I've permissions to maintain the package for EPEL 7 (and a second package which relies on libssh aside of tmate as well)

Thus, can you please unblock libssh in Koji?

Done.

Unfortunately, that doesn't allow committing to epel7 branch of libssh, even I have commit access there.

According to @kevin's analysis on the IRC the PDC (Product Definition Center) needs to be updated as well.

Ping? Could somebody please unblock libssh from epel7 branch?

@robert libssh is now unretired for epel7. Sorry for the delay.
