#7302 Please rename python-kiwi git+koji entries to python-kiwi-gtk instead of creating new ones
Closed: It's all good 6 years ago Opened 6 years ago by ngompa.

The python-kiwi-gtk rename review request was part of a complicated problem: I am trying to package python-kiwi (from PyPI), and the name was taken by kiwi-gtk as python-kiwi. The review request for python-kiwi-gtk was recently completed, so it's allowed into the distribution, but it seems it got a new git repo and koji entry instead.

The problem with this is, I'm going to wind up taking over that name once kiwi-gtk is actually built in Rawhide (pending package review). So having a repo closed and re-opened, and having unrelated data associated with it is going to make things strange.

Can we instead have the existing repository and koji entries renamed, so that fresh python-kiwi git and koji things can be made?

I'm just going to rename the source package to kiwi, so this isn't necessary anymore...

Sorry we do not do this, you need to get a new package review to make sure you get the Obsoletes and Provides correct. https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Package_Renaming_Process

That doesn't apply to unrelated packages. In any case, I'm waiting for the import of the already approved python-kiwi-gtk to remove python-kiwi from f28+ so I can import kiwi...

It still applies, we have done this in the past, it was a multi release process, the replacement took over the previous packages git repo and build space.
