#6597 Update DNF on builders to fix rhbz#1096506 and rhbz#1332830 for pkgconf F26 Change
Closed 7 years ago Opened 7 years ago by ngompa.

In order to proceed with the F26 Change to switch to pkgconf as the system pkg-config implementation, DNF needs to be updated so that it prefers packages with Obsoletes+Provides pairs over the original packages. This way, pkgconf-pkg-config can be used without retiring pkgconfig prematurely.

Details of the issue can be found in rhbz#1096506 and rhbz#1332830.

The updates that solve this are the following:

Yes, but it sounded like ngompa wanted it before then to land the change...

@kevin yeah, it's always better sooner than later ;)

@kevin I want to push pkgconf 1.2.0 with the requisite change in place, so yeah, I'd like the update to be applied as soon as possible so that I can go ahead and push it without breaking the ability to build packages. :)

ok. They should all be updated.

So, it looks like this is not done for the AArch64 and PowerPC builders, which is breaking builds for packages that explicitly BuildRequires: pkgconfig.

See for details: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1415485

This is known, I'm working to get this resolved now

I suspect that s390/s390x will also be suffering if they haven't been updated, too.

s390 builders have been updated now

this issue still shows up on ppc64/ppc64le

ppc64/ppc64le issue is also biting me.

These have all been updated to the latest dnf so aarch64/ppc64/ppc64le are all good now
