#5464 MySQL packages replaced by MariaDB
Closed: Invalid None Opened 11 years ago by hhorak.

In Fedora 19 MySQL packages are obsoleted and replaced by MariaDB packages. MariaDB packages provides all MySQL functionality, have the same structure and content like MySQL and they are even API/ABI compatible.

I'm not sure what changes need to be done on rel-eng site, but I guess mysql-* packages are at least part of some packages sets (comps), so in this case all such occurances should be replaced by corresponding MariaDB packages.

Do you need any other info to do necessary changes?

you are responsible for all actions. comps is not releng managed but is community managed as a packager you have the access to fix it yourself, you will need to get comps files updated, https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_use_and_edit_comps.xml_for_package_groups

if removing the mysql packages you will need to go through the package eol process https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/How_to_remove_a_package_at_end_of_life
