#4923 Create Fedora 16 Beta release candidate (RC) - live and traditional
Closed: Fixed None Opened 9 years ago by adamwill.

It's RC time! Install media and main live desktops are requested.

Here's the list of required builds:

And everything currently pushed to stable. That should be everything. Thank you!

So, for anyone who's been living under a rock for the last week or two, we're going to need an RC2 :)

Here is the package list for RC2 compose:

There is an updated systemd build that would be an NTH candidate, but it prevented live images booting in a VM for me. Worked okay on bare metal.

Also everything that's been pushed stable so far: including https://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/digikam-2.0.0-4.fc16 , which apparently had trouble being pushed, so be careful with it. Make sure to use the listed version of lorax in building the images (and all the other relevant packages recently pushed stable - like fedora-logos and livecd-tools).

Please wait for tflink to give the okay on anaconda testing before you go ahead and do the compose: I have tested it, but we wanted to get his results too before going ahead. He will ping dgilmore and/or nirik in #fedora-releng when he's ready.

I'm done with my tests and nothing unexpected showed up. I'm good with what adam outlined above.

We will need an RC3 for a couple of quite safe fixes:

The other fix is not a package update but just a re-spin with updated comps, specifically this commit:

which drops gnome-documents from the 'default' package set, thus fixing:

so, RC3 with all RC2 stuff, plus the new libreport, plus latest comps. Thanks!

so we need one last shot: RC4.

Two fixes:

they aren't karma'ed yet, but the changes have been quite well tested by both bcl and I, and look good. Together these address all the EFI install showstoppers we could find.

Remember to pull into both the build and build environment any other changes from previous RCs which have not been pushed stable yet: they should all be in the bleed/ repo dgilmore uses, I think.

Also take care about the comps change from RC3 which pulled gnome-documents out of the default install packages (and I think off the DVD entirely). dgilmore said comps changes involved extra work. I'm assuming now it's been done for RC3 it should be okay for RC4, but I thought I'd mention it.

Done. Hopefully I did everything right. ;)

Please let me know if there's anything that needs adjustment.
