#4501 Tagging/Overriding Request for ppl and cloog
Closed: Fixed None Opened 13 years ago by dodji.

There is a new ppl 0.11.2 that has been built into F15 http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=231335.

The soname of the ppl library has changed so I need to rebuilt the cloog package (that depends on ppl) against that new ppl package.

Could you please override the current ppl in dist-f15-updates-candidates target to the ppl 0.11.2 so that I can build cloog against it?

Once the override is done for ppl and cloog built, we will need to override cloog in that same dist-f15-updates-candidates target as well, so that GCC can be rebuilt against cloog.

ppl-0.11.2-1.fc15 tagged

Thank you!

I have built a new cloog against the new ppl:
http://koji.fedoraproject.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=231924

Could you please tag that new cloog as well so that a new GCC can be
built against the new cloog too?

Thank you in advance.

tagged cloog-0.15.9-3.fc15

gcc built, so the override is not needed anymore if those 3 packages can be pushed into dist-f15 soon.
Not sure how it can be done in bodhi though, since the 3 packages absolutely need to be pushed together, but each package has a different owner and bodhi doesn't allow me to create such a request when I don't have commit rights for cloog & ppl.

I believe one needs to have commit rights to a pkg to submit and update for it. I could try doing it flexing some provenpackager muscle, is gcc-4.6.0-0.12.fc15 the one to use?

alternatively, you (jakub) could request commit access to both ppl and cloog too

If you could file it using your provenpackage muscle, it would be appreciated. Yes, it is
gcc-4.6.0-0.12.fc15 cloog-0.15.9-3.fc15 ppl-0.11.2-1.fc15
that should be released together as an update, with no RH bugzilla bugs I'm aware of to be closed (the gcc update fixes a bunch of upstream bugs and the reason for all this ppl/cloog stuff is that
gcc no longer has to revert parts of its code because upstream gcc only supports ppl 0.11 and above and furthermore the gcc Requires on cloog-ppl with ppl SONAME bump create dependency circle during rebuilding).

Requesting commit priviledges for those packages might take too long to get resolved.

OK, so one more thing please, can you provide a small blurb to use for the update notes? (or should I just paraphrase what you mentioned above in your last comment?)

I'd personally file it with empty update notes, but if you want to write something, let's
say that this update is update to new upstream version ppl and its dependencies are rebuilt against it and perhaps reference http://www.cs.unipr.it/ppl/Download/ftp/releases/0.11.2/NEWS
for the changes.

thanks! Lastly, would you recommend tagging this new gcc into the buildroot now? (or wait?)

Could you please untag cloog and ppl from dist-f15-override now that they are in dist-f15 proper? Thanks.
