#12749 untag meson-1.8.0-1.fc43 please
Closed: Fixed with Explanation a month ago by kevin. Opened a month ago by decathorpe.

  • Describe the issue

meson 1.8.0 landed in rawhide earlier to day. It looks like it contains a bug that causes compiler flags to get "lost". This causes at least two dozen build failures on x86_64, mostly in core GNOME / GStreamer packages. It is yet unclear (to me) whether it can cause silent miscompilations too.

see https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2367827

  • When do you need this? (YYYY/MM/DD)

before the next rawhide compose, ideally.

  • When is this no longer needed or useful? (YYYY/MM/DD)

After the next rawhide compose and / or when a fixed meson build supersedes the current one.

  • If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact?

Dozens of build failures in packages built with meson, unclear whether successful builds are miscompiled though.

Thank you!

Yes, it looks like the meson 1.8.0 build for ELN failed.
