#12506 F42 system-wide change: protobuf 5.x/6.x
Closed: Fixed 17 days ago by jnsamyak. Opened a month ago by salimma.

  • Describe the issue
We're planning to upgrade protobuf to the latest version, with a protobuf3 compatibility package and a protobuf5 too once 6.x is released.

Per https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/program_management/changes_policy/#_release_engineering we're filing this to check if releng needs to get involved - but tentatively we don't think it does.

  • When do you need this? (YYYY/MM/DD)
Ideally sufficiently before mass rebuild (2025/01/15)

  • When is this no longer needed or useful? (YYYY/MM/DD)
    N/A

  • If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact?
This hopefully would not block FESCo approval of the change, but it would be nice to get releng ack before this change is voted on

Thanks for the info and for bringing it to releng, in case of any queries please let us know, and yes there is no releng impact as such.

Thanks.
