#1244 block tetex-font-kerkis from building in rawhide
Closed: Fixed None Opened 15 years ago by sarantis.

This request is part of the EOL of the renamed package tetex-font-kerkis. The new package ctan-kerkis-fonts has been approved (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=480591) and is currently awaiting cvs to be built in rawhide. Please block tetex-font-kerkis as the current build in rawhide is broken and will not be taken care of.

You need to follow this first:

http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/PackageMaintainers/PackageEndOfLife

specifically the part about marking the package dead in CVS. Also, shouldn't the newly renamed package have Provides: tetex-font-kerkis in it so that updates will work?

marked tetex-font-kerkis as dead package in cvs.

The newly named package Obsoletes tetex-font-kerkis, so there is no problem for upgrades.
Regarding the Provides, they are only there to meet explicit Requires from other packages (which do not exist AFAICT). Moreover, the Provides is frowned upon by the reviewer of this package (see http://www.redhat.com/archives/fedora-fonts-list/2009-January/msg00013.html)

You're quite right. I had missed the Obsoletes.
