I would like to maintain it in EPEL9 (I will open new ticket requesting the branch once I unorphan it from EPEL) and I am also OK to maintain it in older EPELs. I also wrote the original maintainer to add me as a co-maintainer in Fedora.
Regarding RHEL, there exists branches in the RHEL-9 dist-git, but the package is not shipped anywhere. I asked the person who maintains the package in RHEL and he replied me that there are no plans to ship the package in RHEL-9 thus we can proceed in EPEL9.
hi @jskarvad , We have a process to be followed when requesting package in epel. Take a look at this doc https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/epel/epel-package-request/ and if you have any trouble feel free to reopen this issue

Hi phsmoura,
sorry, I wasn't able to find anything relevant in the docs you linked. Please see: https://src.fedoraproject.org/rpms/libesmtp
There is 'EPEL: orphan'
I want to unorphan in EPEL. I followed [1], there is written: "click the ✋ Take button in the left column. If the button does not work, submit a ticket to the Release Engineering team"
There is no 'take' button, that's why I opened this ticket.

To be precise I want to unorphan in EPEL-8.
Ah, I see, ok. I misunderstood what you were trying to do here.
I added you as a collaborator for epel* and assigned epel branches to you.
Let us know if you need anything further.
