F37 system-wide change: GNU Toolchain update for F37 (glibc 2.36, binutils 2.38)
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/GNUToolchainF37

  • Describe the issue:
    • We are requesting a mass rebuild for the toolchain update to the latest glibc and binutils.
  • When do you need this? (YYYY/MM/DD)
    • By the mass rebuild scheduled date.
  • When is this no longer needed or useful? (YYYY/MM/DD)
    • After the mass rebuild scheduled date.
  • If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact?
    • glibc 2.36 and binutils 2.38 would still be a part of F36, but some packages would not have been built against the updated components and may fail to build at a later date.

Notes:

  • glibc has been doing weekly rawhide rebases to upstream for the last 6 months as usual and fixing integration issues as they arise.
  • binutils has been through continuous testing in rawhide since February 2022 and no integration issues have been detected.

Is everything ready on the tools side for the mass rebuild tomorrow?

The glibc prerelease in the buildroot right now should be alright for the mass rebuild to proceed.

The binutils 2.38 release is already in the buildroot, and I'm not aware of any issues with it.

f37 mass rebuild is complete.
