F36 system-wide change: GNU Toolchain update for F36 (gcc 12, glibc 2.35) https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Changes/GNUToolchainF36
Describe the issue: We are requesting a mass rebuild for the toolchain update to the latest gcc and glibc.
When do you need this? (YYYY/MM/DD) By the mass rebuild scheduled date.
When is this no longer needed or useful? (YYYY/MM/DD) After the mass rebuild scheduled date.
If we cannot complete your request, what is the impact? gcc 12 and glibc 2.35 would still be a part of F36, but some packages would not have been built against the updated system compiler and may fail to build at a later date.
Notes:
glibc has been doing weekly rawhide rebases to upstream for the last 6 months as usual and fixing integration issues as they arise.
gcc 12 is being tested outside of rawhide to build packages and will be integrated before the mass rebuild. GCC enters stage 4 "bug fixing" during January and so all active development is complete.
We have the libffi 3.4 SONAME bump that also needs a mass rebuild (delayed from f35 to f36) https://pagure.io/releng/issue/10213
