The risk here should be minimal, but if worse-comes-to-worse, could be a 0-day update.

As the release manager of LyX I also recomend the update.
I have been running the rpm built locally with mock and there are no visible problems. The feedback from lyx mailing lists has been quite positive until the moment so I don't expect the worst case scenario (Famous last words, I know :-) ).
