This document needs more information.

How do you start the switchdesk commandline and it's gui.

/etc/sysconfig/ contains nothing about desktops. What is the name of the file? If it's "desktop" then saying so would be helpful.

What other information is needed?

I run at runlevel 3 so there's no "XDM(?)" software.
