#1511 [RFE] Avoid sending email with Markdown Syntax
Closed: Invalid Opened by trishnag.

It would be nice if Pagure avoids sending email with Markdown syntax directly when someone is following an issue.
If you take a look at this screenshot: http://img.susepaste.org/74354982 the email arrived directly with Markdown syntax for "Fixed" :-).

I actually do not mind, tbh I even like it this way.

Ah this is a RFE indeed. Feel free to close the issue if you like it this way

I'm leaving this open for now to see if more people want to shim in, but otherwise I will close this as wontfix.

Thanks for your report though, always appreciated to have feedback :)

 for @pingou me likes markdown in mail !

The entire idea behind markdown is that it looks mostly like the things that are already commonly put into text to indicate emphasis or indentation or whatnot. It seems rather counterintuitive to take it out. Plus, what exactly would you take out? Indentation? A line of dashes I've used to indicate a header? Single quotes around a word? A set of lines starting with asterisks? I would put all of that into plain text I write regardless of whether it were going to be processed as markdown, so taking it out would break what I wrote.

So, please leave it in. If someone really wants to have it left out, it would be good to see their proposal for exactly what would be removed. (And I just now realized that those underscores are actually valid markdown, even though I've been using that syntax for about 20 years before I even heard of markdown.)

I definitely also prefer leaving the markdown in there.

Looks like we have a consensus and we can always reconsider if more people are unhappy :)

Let's close for now, thanks for the ticket and the discussion everyone :)
